AC Milan appear to have declared themselves out of the Mario Hermoso sweepstakes for one reason above all, according to a report.

As Calciomercato.com report, Hermoso will leave Atletico Madrid on a free transfer at the end of the season. Despite Diego Simeone’s attempt to keep him with a signifcant offer, the 28-year-old defender preferred to decline because he wants a new experience away from LaLiga.

The Spaniard has received several rich offers from Saudi Arabia and the Premier League with Emery’s Aston Villa pressing hard for weeks to try to secure an agreement with a target that is certainly not that far away today.

Hermoso on a free represents a very tempting an opportunity for Italian clubs, especially after the comments from his agent yesterday. Juventus enquired for example, but now they have decided to go all in on Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna.

Milan also had a little thought: the contact with the entourage, however, did not lead to the opening of a negotiation because the Rossoneri are intent on making a significant investment on a younger profile.

In recent weeks there has also been a lot of talk about Inter and Napoli as possible destinations for the Spaniard but in reality at the moment the costs of the possible operation (€5m net salary per year requested) are considered too high from both clubs.

For Hermoso, predicting a future in Italy is becoming increasingly complicated, but the options are endless so the last word has not yet been said.
