AC Milan are continuing their process of identifying the head coach who will come in to replace Stefano Pioli, and a surprise name cannot be ruled out.

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) writes that Paulo Fonseca is currently the main candidate to become the new head coach but they have cast their net far and wide, even speaking with the agents of Argentina boss Lionel Scaloni.

Giorgio Furlani, Geoffrey Moncada and Zlatan Ibrahimovic are the ones that make the decision and it is logical that they will do in-depth evaluations on all the names, such as Marcelo Gallardo who will soon leave Saudi Arabia.

Gallardo has been spoken to and is currently involved in the process to free himself from Al Ittihad. He could return to River Plate or choose another club in Europe, but Milan’s esteem is something that he has noted.

Graham Potter is another name that the Diavolo are looking into, having faced his Chelsea side in the 2022-23 Champions League, losing 3-0 at Stamford Bridge and then 2-0 at San Siro albeit with an injury-ravaged side.

Potter left Chelsea a year ago and he is ready to start a new chapter. Milan have evaluated him, even if he cannot be considered the favourite.
