Former Wisconsin football wide receiver Markus Allen has found a new home in the portal at Eastern Michigan, where he committed on Friday.

Allen’s collegiate career has been notably turbulent to this point. He initially joined the Badgers as a member of the 2021 recruiting class. A native of Ohio, Allen was considered a four-star recruit and rated as the No. 53 wide receiver in the country, according to the composite.

During his tenure with the Badgers, Allen appeared in nine games over two seasons, tallying 10 receptions for 156 yards and one touchdown. His path took a turn when Wisconsin football dismissed head coach Paul Chryst in October 2022, prompting Allen to enter the transfer portal and briefly commit to Minnesota. However, the 6-foot-2, 200-pound pass-catcher walked back that decision, returning to Madison under new head coach Luke Fickell

In June 2023, Allen re-entered the transfer portal after spending most of spring practice as the Badgers third-team slot receiver. Allen later committed to Butler Community College in Kansas and parlayed that opportunity into his spot at Eastern Michigan.

The Eagles posted a 6-7 record in 2023 under head coach Chris Creighton and are ranked No. 119 by ESPN’s SP+ heading into the 2024 season, offering a fresh start for Allen.

Allen was a member of the Wisconsin football program’s recruiting class that also featured Badgers standouts like Braelon Allen, Riley Mahlman, Hunter Wohler, Ricardo Hallman, Darryl Peterson, and Jake Chaney.
